Alpha Upsilon chapter was the first chapter of Beta Sigma Phi formed in Fort Frances. In 1047 Alice Solomon and Edna Avis believed that this community would benefit from Beta Sigma Phi as they knew it. They spoke to Mrs. Newman about being the Social Sponsor, and with her consent held the first rush party on October 3, 1947.
The first Preferential Tea was held on November 2, 1047 with 22 new charter members taking part. The first installation banquet was held on November 17, 1947 in the Rainy Lake Hotel.
