Daffodil Days

In 1975 Marg Cousineau brought to the attention of sorority sisters an article in the Torch magazine about Beta Sigma Phi’s in Peterborough, Ontario, who held a Daffodil Day with proceeds given to the Canadian Cancer Society. That was all it took, the ida and motivation from sorority sisters, and we were on our way.
From 100 bunches, to 200 bunches and now over 1600 bunches; from the local florist shop, to the Knox Church basement; from individual sales and personal deliveries to pre-sales at area business. We have grown.
Is hasn’t been an easy road. We have had obstacles that had to be overcome, especially one year when Mother Nature came alone with a snow blizzard. Not to be discouraged we continued with the Daffodil Day the following year and all years since.
The daffodils are grown in B.C. and are transported in special trucks to Thunder Bay, where they are then brought to Fort Frances by Gardwine and on to the local Brewers Retail and finally to the church. On the morning of delivery sorority members volunteer their time in wrapping the bunches and delivering them to the businesses and outlets in Fort Frances and surrounding area.
